The Book Club: A Valentine’s Book Exchange

Bloom RVA’s second event was all about love—for books.

Bloom RVA events are like adult field trips except you get to have input. For a few moments, we get to step outside of routine, connect with new people, and explore shared interests in a way that feels intentional and refreshing.

This gathering brought together a completely different mix of members than our museum meetup, which speaks to how dynamic our community is already. The faces were new, but the energy remained the same—welcoming, curious, and full of good conversation.

This was about was about getting to know each other through our reading profiles—the genres that pull us in, the books that have changed our lives, and how stories are resonating with us in this season of life. Every member brought at least one book they enjoyed and didn’t mind rehoming to someone who would appreciate them just as much.

As we discussed the books that have stayed with us, the kind of readers we are, and what we’re excited to read next, it was obvious this won’t be the last time we gather for the love of books.

Everyone left with a book or a few in hand, and one lucky attendee also won a massage gift card—a little extra self-care just in time for Valentine’s Day.
